Lockdown 2021

Well, it’s been ten months now and I, like most of you out there, am pretty tired of the ongoing pandemic and just wishing and hoping for things to start getting back to normal, or at least by normal I mean being able to freely see friends and family and having the freedom to travel a bit!

Just before the inevitable lockdown at the beginning of January, I went on a long walk to Stoney Littleton Longbarrow, a Neolithic chambered tomb near Wellow in Somerset. I did take some photos of the Longbarrow but will refrain from sharing these as I want to return one morning with a more interesting sky and lighting (it was past sunrise by the time I reached there).

On the way home, however, I caught sight of a group of pigeons and doves flying in and out of a barn and so, naturally I couldn’t help but setup my tripod, wait and take pictures of these intriguing birds flying in and out of the building and in retrospect, the captures of these birds in between window frames, casting shadows on the bricks whilst in flight and the general sense of imprisonment and isolation created was perfect in putting together a small photo series that would resonate with the majority of us right now.
